Senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh revealed on Wednesday that Arvind Kejriwal, plans to vacate his official residence at Civil Lines in the next 15 days.
On September 17, Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal had resigned and submitted his resignation to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena.
During a press conference, Sanjay Singh emphasised that Kejriwal is not only leaving the official residence but is also giving up all the government privileges that come with the position. This includes security arrangements, an official car, a personal driver, and even the dedicated staff that typically accompanies a chief minister.
Singh said, “Any elected chief minister gets many government facilities, but after resigning from the post of CM yesterday, he first said he would vacate the house and give up all these facilities in 15 days”.
While Singh did not disclose where Kejriwal and his family will move after vacating their current home, he mentioned that Kejriwal, as a leader of a national political party, could still be eligible for an alternative government-provided accommodation.
Touching on concerns about Kejriwal’s safety, Singh pointed out that he has been attacked on multiple occasions, particularly by members of the BJP.
“We tried to explain to him that his official residence is vital not just for his role as the chief minister but also for his safety and security. But he did not listen and has decided that he will vacate the house as per rules and will live among the common with God’s protection,” Singh said.
