Quereshi, who sustained severe brain injuries, was discharged from the ICU at JJ Hospital on Thursday. The Parksite Police have filed an FIR against Chakravorthy and his wife, Antara Ghosh.
The confrontation began when Quereshi was driving in the Asalpha area of Ghatkopar (W), and an Audi Q3 driven by Chakravorthy brushed against his taxi. During the altercation that followed, a woman believed to be Chakravorthy’s mother allegedly took Quereshi’s navigation device before the family drove away.
Quereshi pursued the Audi to The Address housing complex, where his taxi lightly bumped into the Audi, as seen in the video. Furious, Chakravorthy, who is a journalist, got out of the car and began attacking the driver. His wife and mother also came out, shouting and hurling abuses. Suddenly, Chakravorthy lifted Quereshi and smashed him against the ground. This incident occurred around midnight on August 19, 2024.
Security personnel rushed Quereshi to Rajawadi Hospital, but due to the severity of his head injuries, he was transferred to JJ Hospital. The FIR was registered on Wednesday after Quereshi regained consciousness and includes charges under sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 117 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 351 (2) (criminal intimidation), and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
