BBC Documentary Row: Four Jamia Students Detained Over Ruckus Outside Campus

New Delhi: After a chaos over the screening of BBC Documentary ‘India: The Modi Question’ in JNU, the tension has takenover at Jamia Milia Islamia (JMI) after Delhi Police detained four students allegedly for creating a ruckus outside the campus over screening of the documentary.

According to the police, the commotion took place after the Students Federation of India (SFI), announced that it will organise a screening of the controversial documentary.

The action was initiated on the request of the Chief Proctor of the University, after the students had announced the screening of the documentary on the campus at 6 pm.

Amid the chaos over screening of the documentary, JMI chief Proctor office issued another advisory and added that “no meeting of students or screening of any film will be allowed in the campus without permission.”

The statement further added that “ University is taking all measures to prevent people/ organisations having vested interest to destroy the peaceful academic atmosphere here.”

Earlier, Students from JNU filed a complaint against members of ABVP over alleged stone pelting during the screening of the documentary in the campus.
