In a disturbing incident in Bengaluru, a woman has alleged harassment and physical assault by an auto driver after she canceled a ride booked through Ola. The altercation, which occurred on Wednesday, involved the woman and her friend who had initially booked two autos.

In a statement, the woman recounted, “Yesterday in Bangalore (Bengaluru), my friend & I booked two autos on Ola due to peak hours. I arrived first, so she canceled hers. The other auto driver followed us, furious. Despite explaining the situation, he started shouting and hurling abuse.”
She further alleged that the driver verbally assaulted them and made derogatory remarks. The woman recorded the incident on her phone, which only seemed to enrage the driver further. When she threatened to report him, the driver showed no concern for any repercussions.
The confrontation escalated when the driver attempted to snatch her phone. Despite her resistance, the driver slapped her in front bystanders and continued his threats.
In response to the incident, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Traffic and Road Safety, Alok Kumar, condemned the driver’s actions. “Such behavior is unacceptable. A few individuals like him tarnish the reputation of the auto drivers’ community. I have informed the concerned authorities to take appropriate action,” Kumar stated.
Ola Support also addressed the issue on social media saying, “This sounds quite alarming. Don’t worry, we are here to help you with this.”
