In a shocking incident in the north Bihar district of Supaul, a five-year-old nursery student brought a gun to school and opened fire on a fellow student, severely injuring a Class 3 boy.
Superintendent of Police Shaishav Yadav reported that the young student had hidden the firearm in his school bag. During school hours, he fired at a ten-year-old boy, who was struck in the arm. The injured child was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Authorities are now investigating how the five-year-old obtained the firearm and managed to bring it into the private school located in the Lalpatti area. SP Yadav stated, “We are trying to find out how the boy got to lay his hands on the firearm and managed to carry it to the private school.”
In response to the incident, the police have urged schools across the district to implement stricter security measures, including regular checks of students’ bags. “We are also asking schools across the district to ensure that bags of students are checked thoroughly on a regular basis. The incident has caused much anxiety among parents and guardians,” Yadav added.
