The Election Commission of India on Monday announced the schedule for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, declaring that polling will be held in two phases.

The first phase, covering 121 assembly constituencies, will take place on November 6, while the second phase, comprising 122 constituencies, is scheduled for November 11. The counting of votes will be conducted on November 14.

According to the notification, the gazette notification for the first phase will be issued on October 10, and for the second phase on October 13. The last dates for filing nominations are October 17 and October 20, respectively.

Scrutiny of nominations will be held on October 18 for phase one and October 21 for phase two, while the last dates for withdrawal of candidatures are October 20 and October 23.
- The state will have 90,713 polling stations spread across both urban and rural regions. Of these, 13,911 are located in urban areas, while 76,801 are in rural parts of Bihar.
- Bihar has a total of 7.43 crore registered voters this year. Of these, 3.92 crore are male voters, 3.50 crore are female voters, and around 14.01 lakh are first-time voters, reflecting a significant youth participation in the upcoming polls.
- The announcement officially sets the tone for what is expected to be a high-stakes contest involving key political alliances, the NDA led by the BJP and JD(U), and the Mahagathbandhan comprising the RJD, Congress, and Left parties.
- The term of the current 243-member Bihar Legislative Assembly ends on November 22, necessitating the formation of a new government before that date.
