BJP Appoints State In-Charges for Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Gujarat

BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Tuesday appointed new state in-charges and co-in-charges for Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Gujarat with immediate effect, ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

National General Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Vinod Tawde has been appointed Uttar Pradesh in-charge, while National Secretary Jagdish Ishwarbhai Patel will serve as co-in-charge.

For Punjab, National General Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Satish Poonia has been appointed state in-charge.

In Gujarat, Rajya Sabha MP and BJP National Headquarters In-charge Tarun Chugh has been appointed state in-charge.

The BJP said appointments for other states will be announced in due course, while the existing Prabhari arrangements will continue in those states until then.

The appointments come a day after Nabin announced his new national team, which includes a mix of experienced leaders and younger faces. Former Amethi MP Smriti Irani, former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb, Sunil Bansal, Vinod Tawde and Satish Poonia are among the leaders given key responsibilities as national general secretaries.

Several senior leaders, including former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat and Ram Madhav, have also been appointed national vice presidents. Six of the 13 new vice presidents are women.
