Defying all predictions and exit polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) made an impressive comeback in Haryana, securing a third consecutive victory in the state and dealing a blow to the Congress, which had been tipped to win.
Early trends had suggested a Congress triumph, prompting celebrations at the party’s headquarters, but as the day wore on, the BJP surged ahead to clinch the final victory. Congress workers, who were initially seen dancing to dhol beats and feeding each other jalebis soon found themselves at the receiving end of a social media storm.
BJP leaders and supporters across the country quickly embraced the jalebi in their celebrations. Some shared photos of themselves enjoying the iconic Indian sweet, while others took it a step further by attempting to cook jalebis in honor of the party’s victory.
In a viral video shared by an Assam BJP member, a party worker was seen walking into a Congress office in Lakhimpur, holding a packet of jalebis, poking fun at the opposition.
The trolling didn’t stop there. Haryana BJP took to X (formerly Twitter) to post a screenshot of a Swiggy food delivery order. The screenshot showed an order for 1kg of jalebis from Bikanervala in Delhi’s Connaught Place, with the delivery marked for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s residence on Akbar Road. The screenshot amusingly showed the status of the order being prepared, with cash payment due upon delivery.
