Ahmedabad: Several courts in Gujarat, including the Surat District Court and courts in Ahmedabad, received bomb threat emails on Saturday, triggering security checks by police and bomb disposal teams.
The Surat District Court received an email threatening to blow up the premises with a bomb. Police teams and bomb disposal squad personnel were deployed immediately and conducted detailed searches of the court complex to determine whether the threat was genuine.
The lawyers’ association raised concerns over what it described as repeated bomb threats targeting courts. Gujarat Bar Council member Bhavesh Rabari questioned why the premises were not evacuated and court proceedings continued despite the warning, alleging that such threats directly target the justice system.
Meanwhile, the Gurugram Municipal Corporation (MCG) office received a bomb threat email on September 3 at around 11:38 am, warning of an IED blast at 1:11 pm.
Police evacuated the building and deployed bomb and dog squads, which searched floors, offices and parking areas. No suspicious object was found during the operation or a subsequent inspection.
The email named the MCG, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, a cricket stadium and several Punjab police stations as targets, with the sender claiming links to the Khalistani National Army.
A similar email threat was received by Punjab’s Bathinda Court Complex and District Council on September 3. SP Ashwant Singh said the threat email was received around 1 pm.
