The dilapidated condition of sectors 88-91 along the Dwarka Expressway has become a major cause of concern for the residents. The master road begins at the CPR interchange of the Dwarka Expressway and ends at Kankrola village.
During the monsoon season, road conditions have severely disrupted the residents’ daily lives. The stretch between the CPR interchange and the intersection of sectors 84 and 85 is now a treacherous path riddled with potholes and massive craters, making commuting a nightmare.
While the GMDA plans to redevelop the entire stretch, which could cost approximately Rs 77.7 crore, locals urgently need temporary repairs to make their daily commute less challenging.
The redevelopment project, approved last Jan, aims to upgrade and strengthen the existing six-lane master road covering sectors 84-88, 85-89, 86-90, and 87-91.
The road, originally constructed in 2010-2011 by the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP), has deteriorated. According to GMDA, this road witnesses around 28,000 passenger car units (PCU) daily, and with the opening of Dwarka Expressway, the traffic load on this stretch has increased.
As reported in the media, an official from GMDA claims that the tender for the project is currently under scrutiny, and they hope to complete it soon. “We will take up temporary measures such as filling potholes to address the immediate issues faced by commuters. Meanwhile, we are working on finalising the tendering process for the redevelopment of this road soon,” the official was quoted in the media.
