The total number of positive cases in India has jumped from nearly 43,000 to beyond 46,000 now and the chaos at the liquor shops across the states on Monday has resulted in some strict measures being drawn as the country enters the third phase of the nationwide lockdown.
Here are the top 10 developments in India this Tuesday morning-
1. India reported 3900 new cases and 195 deaths in the past 24 hours- this is the sharpest spike in both.
2. The total number of confirmed cases in India now stands at 46,433.
– Active cases: 32,138
– Death toll: 1,568
– Cured/discharged/migrated cases: 12,727
3. Three Navy warships have sailed out to bring back Indian citizens from Maldives and United Arab Emirates (UAE). The warships include INS Jallashwa, INS Magar and INS Shardul.
INS Jalashwa sailed from Visakhapatnam a few days ago from the east coast to the west coast. Total 14 warships have been readied for evacuating Indian citizens from Gulf and other countries.
4. Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) has been imposed in Mumbai till 17th May 2020. Movement of one or more persons for all non-essential services, except for medical reasons, will be prohibited between 8 pm and 7 am.
5. Delhi Government has imposed ‘Special Corona Fees’- 70% tax on Maximum Retail Price of the liquor. It will be applicable from Tuesday.

6. Three more zones de-contained in Delhi, with this the total number of containment zones in the national capital now stands at 90.
In and around area of 11/3, 2nd Floor Ashok Nagar, A 36/4, East Patel Nagar and G-174 and Capital Greens, DLF, Moti Nagar were removed from the list.
7. 35 deaths and 771 new COVID-19 positive cases were recorded in Maharashtra on Monday, taking the total number of cases in the state to 14,541. Death toll due to Coronavirus stands at 583 in the state.
8. West Bengal government has identified 312 containment areas in Kolkata to prevent COVID-19 transmission. The state had 61 new positive cases reported in West Bengal on Monday, taking the total number of cases in the state to 1,259.
9. 38 more COVID-19 cases and 5 deaths reported in Rajasthan today. Total number of cases in the state is now at 3,099, including 1,577 active cases and 82 deaths.
10. State Medical & Health officials told CM KCR that higher percentage of those affected with and dying due to COVID-19 are more in Hyderabad and its neighbouring 3 districts, so there is a need to further tighten and implement lockdown in Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal and Vikarabad districts.
The officials requested the CM not to give any relaxation in these districts. They said the cases in other districts have decreased and the number of containment zones has also been reduced: Telangana CMO.
