Deepinder Goyal, co-founder of Zomato and long-time chief of its parent company Eternal Ltd., has announced his decision to step down as Group Chief Executive Officer, effective February 1, 2026, according to regulatory filings and company statements.
Goyal, who helped build Zomato into a leading food-tech and quick commerce giant, said in a letter to shareholders that he plans to pursue “high-risk, experimental ideas” that fall outside the strategic scope of a large public company. He emphasised that the change is driven by personal and strategic priorities, and not a loss of confidence in Eternal’s prospects.
Albinder Singh Dhindsa, currently CEO of Blinkit—a quick commerce business under the Eternal umbrella—will succeed Goyal as the new Group CEO. The leadership shift aims to maintain operational focus and support continued growth across Eternal’s portfolio. Goyal will remain with the company as Vice Chairman and Director, subject to shareholder approval, continuing to contribute to long-term strategy, culture and governance.
The transition comes alongside strong quarterly financial results for Eternal, with notable profit and revenue growth in the latest reported period, underscoring resilience in the company’s core businesses. Albinder Dhindsa’s appointment is seen as a strategic move to sustain momentum and deepen operational efficiencies as Eternal scales its services nationwide.
Industry observers view the leadership change as a pivotal moment for the future direction of one of India’s largest integrated delivery platforms.
