Delhi Airport’s T2 To Be Temporarily Shut For 4-6 Months Refurbishment Works

Date:

Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) announced on Friday that Terminal 2 (T2) at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) will be temporarily shut down for four to six months during the next financial year for renovations.
IGIA, which is the busiest airport in India, consists of three terminals—T1, T2, and T3. Currently, T1 and T2 are designated for domestic flights.

The refurbishment of T2 is scheduled to begin in the 2025-26 financial year, with completion expected by the second quarter of FY26. During the closure, Terminal 1 will accommodate the additional passenger volume, ensuring that operations continue with minimal disruption.

The extensive upgrades to T2 are intended to enhance the passenger experience and expand the airport’s capacity to support future growth. DIAL CEO Videh Kumar Jaipuriar stated that the revamp of the four-decade-old terminal is crucial to meet the increasing demand for air travel, especially for domestic passengers, as T2’s capacity is expected to reach its peak by FY 2025-26.
