New Delhi: A 30-year-old judge, Aman Kumar Sharma, was found dead at his residence in South Delhi’s Safdarjung area on Saturday, with police suspecting suicide.
According to officials, Sharma was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan inside the bathroom of his Green Park home after a PCR call was made around 1:45 pm by his brother-in-law, a resident of Defence Colony. Police teams reached the spot and rushed him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
No signs of foul play have emerged so far, though authorities said all angles are being investigated. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and officials are questioning family members and associates to determine the sequence of events.
Sharma, son of Prem Kumar Sharma, had joined the Delhi Judicial Services on June 19, 2021, after completing his BA LLB from Symbiosis Law School, Pune, in 2018. During his tenure, he handled various criminal and civil cases, serving as a judicial magistrate first class and civil judge across different courts.
In October 2025, he was appointed full-time Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) for the North-East district at Karkardooma Courts, a posting confirmed by the local bar association.
Police said the cause behind the suspected suicide remains unclear and further investigation is underway.
