Date:

New Delhi: Delhi has been ranked the world’s cheapest major city for a romantic date, while also remaining one of the most affordable cities for buying property, according to Deutsche Bank’s Mapping the World’s Prices 2026 report.

The report found that a “cheap date” in Delhi costs an average of USD 103. The city also offers the lowest broadband internet cost among the 69 cities surveyed, with a monthly connection priced at USD 7.3.

Property prices in Delhi’s city centre average USD 2,465 per square metre, placing the city among the least expensive global property markets. The report noted that property prices have fallen 9.8 per cent in dollar terms over the past decade but have recovered 15.7 per cent since 2019.

However, Delhi ranked 66th out of 69 cities for net monthly salary, with average earnings of USD 538, around 10 per cent of New York’s level. The report also said salaries have declined 17.7 per cent in dollar terms over the last decade.

Delhi did not feature among the top 50 cities in the quality-of-life rankings.
