Delhi Police Denies Truck Conspiracy Claims During CJP Protest, Issues Social Media Notices

Date:

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Tuesday rejected allegations that a truck parked near Jantar Mantar during the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) July 20 ‘Chalo Sansad’ protest was part of a conspiracy to provoke violence against demonstrators, calling the claims “false and misleading.”

Police said Truck No. HR63 E 6865 was seized on July 16, 2026, after it was involved in a road accident with an EECO van that left six people injured. The vehicle was initially kept near Parliament Street police station due to space constraints.

Before the protest, the truck was emptied and shifted to a safer location in the early hours of July 20 after instructions were given to its owner.

The clarification came after CJP shared videos and posts alleging that a truck carrying stones had been deliberately stationed near the protest site to frame peaceful protesters. Police said there was no truth in claims linking the vehicle to any conspiracy.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police Intelligence Fusion & Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit has issued notices to Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and X, seeking removal of posts and videos allegedly spreading false information about violence during the CJP protests.

Police said thousands of posts, including alleged deepfake videos and misleading content, were circulated across platforms and action was requested following public complaints.

The force urged people not to share unverified information and rely on official updates.
