Delhi Polls: AAP Releases Final Candidates List; Kejriwal To Contest From New Delhi

Date:

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will contest the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections from the New Delhi constituency. The announcement came as the party released its fourth and final list of 38 candidates on Sunday.

Current Chief Minister Atishi has been fielded from Kalkaji, while senior ministers Saurabh Bharadwaj and Gopal Rai will contest from Greater Kailash and Babarpur, respectively.

The final list also features prominent AAP leaders such as Satyendra Kumar Jain from Shakur Basti, Durgesh Pathak from Rajinder Nagar, and Imran Hussain from Ballimaran. Raghuvinder Shokeen will represent Nangloi Jat, Som Dutt has been fielded from Sadar Bazar, and Jarnail Singh will contest from Tilak Nagar.

Notably, the party introduced a few new names, including Ramesh Pehalwan, who will contest from Kasturba Nagar. Pehalwan, a former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, joined AAP earlier in the day along with his wife, Kusumlata Ramesh, in the presence of Arvind Kejriwal. Another fresh entrant is Pooja Naresh Balyan, the wife of sitting MLA Naresh Balyan, who has been fielded from Uttam Nagar.

In the 2020 assembly elections, AAP registered a landslide victory, winning 62 of the 70 seats, while the BJP managed to secure only eight.
