G20 Summit: Delhi & NCR Coming Under Heavy Security Umbrella

New Delhi: As the national capital is gearing up for the G20 summit, scheduled for September 9 and 10, security and safety preparations of world leaders are all in full swing.

Delhi Police, paramilitary forces and security agencies have come together for high security arrangements of the strategic locations in Delhi and NCR areas. From high-tech AI-based cameras, army snipers, special CRPF teams, sniffer dogs, and anti-drone units, to HIT squads, this is how Delhi preparing for the summit.

AI-based cameras have been arranged for the full-proof security of the G20 delegates at several venues of the summit. These high-tech cameras will be used to identify suspicious activities. According to security personnel quoted in a media report, these AI cameras will immediately alert security personnel, if in case anyone is detected climbing walls or making unusual movements, such as running or bending down.

At the same time, to ensure proper security during the summit, National Security Guard (NSG) commandos and Army snipers are being stationed at high-rise buildings. For the safety of their respective heads of state, personnel of international security agencies like the CIA, MI-6, and MSS, have already arrived in India.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has also formed a ‘Special 50’ team comprising around 1,000 security personnel, experienced in VIP security.

As per the news agency PTI, around 450 quick response teams (QRT) of police and disaster management units will be stationed at the G20 summit venue, 23 designated hotels and routes taken by foreign leaders. According to the Indian Express report, at least 69 explosive detection dogs from the K9 squad of the police will be placed at critical sites across the National Capital.

A special HIT squad have been created for the summit. They have shoot-to-kill orders. They will be equipped with special weapons like TAR 21 assault rifles and American Glock 17 pistols.
