Jaishankar and Richard Verma, the former US Ambassador to India, also exchanged views on regional and global issues. Richard Verma was the 25th US Ambassador to India, nominated by President Obama in September 2014.
While in India, Deputy Secretary Verma was also joined by Senior Advisor to the President for International Climate Policy John Podesta and Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy David Turk to meet with Minister of Power Manohar Lal Khattar, senior Government of India officials, climate advocates, and business leaders to discuss how the United States and India can further our climate partnership.
These engagements reflect the breadth and depth of the U.S.-India partnership and helped deepen enduring people-to-people ties.
