Encounter Breaks Out In Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian

Date:

Encounter breaks out between security forces and terrorists in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Based on a specific input about the presence of terrorists in the Shukroo Keller area of the south Kashmir district, security forces launched a cordon and search operation there, as reported by PTI.

The Indian Army has tweeted on its official social media handle, stating, “OPERATION KELLER On 13 May 2025, based on specific intelligence of a #RashtriyasRifles Unit, about presence of terrorists in general area Shoekal Keller, #Shopian, #IndianArmy launched a search and destroy Operation. During the operation, terrorists opened heavy fire and fierce firefight ensued, which resulted in elimination of three hardcore terrorists. Operation is in progress.”

This comes soon after PM Modi addresses the nation on Operation Sindoor, India’s counterstrike after the Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 innocents were murdered.

India has carried out airstrikes against terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir and warned that any terror attack will now be seen as an act of war and draw a tough response.

(More details are awaited)
