In a powerful show of solidarity, the European Union in India paid tribute to the victims of the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen. The attack, which occurred at the popular Baisaran meadow in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday, is one of the deadliest the region has seen since the 2019 Pulwama bombing.
On Thursday, EU Ambassadors and the Board of the Federation of European Business in India (FEBI) gathered to observe a solemn minute of silence in memory of the victims. The tribute was led by Herve Delphin, EU Ambassador to India and Bhutan, who shared a message of support on X (formerly Twitter).

The international support was further reinforced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who condemned the attack and extended heartfelt condolences to the Indian people.
The vile terror attack in Pahalgam today stole so many innocent lives.
My deepest condolences to @narendramodi and every Indian heart grieving today.
Yet I know that India’s spirit is unbreakable.
You will stand strong in this ordeal.
And Europe will stand with you.

The attack, which targeted tourists visiting the serene meadow of Baisaran — often called ‘Mini Switzerland’ — has sent shockwaves across the country. Armed militants opened fire on a group of visitors, leaving dozens injured in addition to the 26 fatalities. Security forces have since launched a massive operation to track down those responsible.
