The Delhi Police on Saturday filed an FIR following an incident involving the bursting of firecrackers outside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence in Civil Lines. The incident took place on Friday, shortly after Kejriwal was released from Tihar Jail, where he had been held in connection with a corruption case related to the Delhi excise policy.
The FIR was registered against unknown individuals under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which addresses disobedience to orders promulgated by a public servant.
Earlier on Monday, the Delhi government announced a ban on the production, sale, and use of firecrackers throughout the city in a bid to control air pollution during the winter months.
