From Parvesh Verma To Vijender Gupta, Who Will Be BJP’s Delhi CM?

Date:

After 27 years, winning 48 seats in the assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party will form the government in Delhi. The Saffron Brigade ended the 10-year reign of the Aam Adami Party in the capital city.

But the critical question that everyone wants to know is who will be the next Delhi Chief Minister?

The BJP has not yet announced the name of the individual sitting on this prestigious chair, but a few names are being circulated.

Parvesh Verma

Parvesh Verma, the man with politics in his blood, hails from a politically influential family. His father, Sahib Singh Verma, was a chief minister of Delhi. His uncle, Azad Singh, was the mayor of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation and contested the Mundka Vidhan Sabha constituency on the BJP ticket in the 2013 assembly election.

So, it is no surprise that Parvesh swept off Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi constituency. Born on November 7. 1977, Parvesh Verma attended Delhi Public School in RK Puram and then went to Delhi University’s Kirori Mal College. He also received a master of business administration degree from the Fore School of Management.

Vijender Gupta

Former Delhi BJP president Vijender Gupta has also emerged as a strong CM candidate. He won the Rohini seat, defeating AAP’s Pardeep Mittal. He won the seat twice in the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections.

Satish Upadhyay

Satish Upadhyay, another former Delhi BJP president, is also in contention after securing victory in the Malviya Nagar constituency. His past roles as vice-chairman of the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) and co-in-charge of the BJP’s Madhya Pradesh unit highlight his governance experience. His ties with the RSS leadership could be a decisive factor in his candidacy.

Virendra Sachdeva

Sachdeva is the president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Delhi. Under his leadership, the BJP contested the 2025 Delhi assembly elections, securing a majority and ending the AAP’s dominance in the capital. Sachdeva also serves as the secretary general of the Archery Association of India and vice president of the Delhi Olympics.

Shikha Roy

Shikha Roy defeated AAP’s Saurabh Bharadwaj in the Greater Kailash constituency by 3,188 votes. Roy, known for her organizational skills and ground connect, strengthened BJP’s South Delhi base.

Harish Khurana

Harish Khurana made his electoral debut and defeated AAP’s Shivcharan Goel from Moti Nagar. Harish Khurana, too, hails from a strong political family tree. He is the son of former Delhi CM Madan Lal Khurana (1993-1996) and holds important positions in BJP’s Delhi unit, having served as secretary, public relations cell convenor, and party spokesperson.
