Army Chief General Bipin Rawat reached Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, where a conclave of senior Army officers is expected to be held to review the security situation in the conflict riddled Valley.
The meeting of Indian Army staff is being held in the the backdrop of recent terrorist and Pakistani aggression carried out on the LoC and Kashmir.
Two terrorists were killed earlier in the day in a joint operation by the Rashtriya Rifles and police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore district. Yesterday, terrorists had hurled a grenade at police in the Sopore district, injuring at least four personnel.
The Pakistan Army has also been increasing its activity against India. The Pakistan side has intermittently engaged in firing of small arms and mortars along the LoC. The Indian Army has strongly retaliated against these acts of aggression.
With the situation in the Valley becoming increasingly more volatile, the meeting of Indian Army personnel will look to form a more comprehensive security policy to properly tackle the volatile situation.
