Goa Police Registers Murder Case In BJP Leader Sonali Phogat’s Death

Date:

Panaji: The Goa Police on Thursday registered a case of murder against two people involved in the death of BJP Leader Sonali Phogat.

According to PTI, the post-mortem report of Sonali observed ‘multiple blunt force injuries on body’. She was brought dead at the St Anthony Hospital on Tuesday morning. While the Preliminary reports suggested that the reason for her sudden death was cardiac arrest, her family members suspected foul play.

Rinku Dhaka, brother of Sonali Phogat filed a formal complaint with the Goa Police and alleged that his sister was raped and murdered by one of her personal assistants and a friend.

The complaint further mentioned that Sonali Phogat had spoken to her mother, sister, and brother-in-law a few hours before her demise on August 23. He claimed that during the conversation, she had complained about her staff.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar when asked about the demand of CBI probe into the matter, said that “We will do as the family members ask for, if they give us their demands in writing, we will give it for further process.”

Speaking with newswire agency ANI, Sonali’s nephew Moninder Phogat claimed that they are sure that his sister was raped and murdered.

Sonali contested in the last Assembly election from Haryana’s Adampur constituency on a BJP ticket against Kuldeep Bishnoi.
