Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced a new FASTag-based annual pass on Wednesday, aimed at making highway travel smoother and toll payments easier for regular commuters.

In a post on X, Gadkari announced that the annual pass will be available starting August 15 at a cost of ₹3,000. It will apply to non-commercial private vehicles, such as cars, jeeps, and vans, and will be valid for one year from the activation date or for up to 200 trips—whichever comes first.
The move is expected to benefit people living near toll plazas within a 60-kilometre range, helping address long-standing complaints about repeated toll charges for short-distance travel.
How To Get The FASTag Annual Pass
Users can go to the Rajmarg Yatra mobile app, or visit the official websites of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) or the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). A dedicated link for activation and renewal will be shared ahead of the launch.
Gadkari said the idea behind the annual pass is to allow users to pay once a year, instead of dealing with toll deductions on every trip. By reducing payment stops and streamlining travel, the government hopes the pass will help reduce congestion and disputes at toll plazas.
The plan is part of a broader effort to modernise road travel, enhance the user experience, and transition towards more digital services on the national highway network.
