A devastating fire at a hotel in the Hauz Rani area of Malviya Nagar, South Delhi, has claimed 21 lives, leaving several families in mourning. Among the victims were reportedly eight members of the Agarwal family from Gurugram’s Sector-46.
The family had travelled to Delhi to support elderly family member Radheshyam Agarwal, who was undergoing treatment for a lung-related illness at Max Hospital in Malviya Nagar. To remain close to the hospital, relatives had been staying at a nearby hotel.
According to reports, Radheshyam Agarwal, who is over 80 years old, was receiving medical care when the tragedy struck. At the time of the incident, his 48-year-old son Vivek Agarwal, daughter-in-law Tarjani Agarwal, his wife, and granddaughters Jivisha alias Angel and Varya alias Pearl were present at the hotel.
Reports indicate that the victims were unable to escape after a fire broke out, followed by a cylinder explosion inside the building. They were taken to a hospital after the incident, where doctors declared them dead.
The tragedy has emerged as one of the most heartbreaking stories from the Malviya Nagar hotel fire, which has left several families devastated.
