A woman Flying Officer of the Indian Air Force (IAF) has filed a serious complaint against a senior officer, accusing him of rape and continuous harassment in Jammu and Kashmir.
Acting on her statement, the Budgam police registered an FIR under Section 376(2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which deals with rape committed by a person in a position of trust or authority.
According to the flying officer’s complaint, she has been enduring sexual harassment, assault, and mental torture for the past two years. The complaint detailed that on the night of December 31, 2023, during a New Year’s Eve party at the officers’ mess, the Wing Commander allegedly sexually assaulted her in his room.
The IAF, in its response, confirmed that the Budgam police had contacted the Air Force station involved for assistance in the investigation. The Air Force has assured full cooperation with law enforcement authorities to ensure the case is investigated thoroughly.
