The Army Day is celebrated in India every year on January 15. The day is celebrated as Army Day because Field Marshal Kodandera M Cariappa had taken over as the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army on January 15, 1949. He took over the reign from General Sir Francis Butcher, the last British Commander-in-Chief of India.
The 71st Army Day parade was held at Field Marshal K M Cariappa Parade Ground, Delhi Cantonment.
