In the early hours of Saturday, May 10, India successfully intercepted a Fatah-II ballistic missile over Sirsa, Haryana. The missile, reportedly launched by Pakistan amid a series of unprovoked overnight attacks targeting multiple Indian cities, was believed to be directed toward the national capital, Delhi. According to defence sources, India’s Barak-8 air and missile defence system was deployed to neutralise the threat.
The Fatah-II is a tactical ballistic missile developed by Pakistan. It is characterised by its hypersonic speed and a range exceeding 400 kilometres. It is equipped with advanced precision guidance systems, making it a significant threat in regional conflict scenarios.
Following the missile launch, several Indian cities have been placed on high alert. Pakistani forces have also intensified hostilities along the border regions, using drones, missile strikes, and artillery fire across Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. Indian defense forces remain on heightened readiness in response to what appears to be a coordinated escalation.
