In a significant development amid heightened border tensions, the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan held a high-level conversation on Monday at 5:00 PM to address escalating hostilities following India’s Operation Sindoor.
The dialogue, confirmed by the Indian Army, focused on upholding existing ceasefire agreements and reducing the risk of further confrontation. Both military officials reportedly reaffirmed their nations’ commitment to maintaining peace along the Line of Control (LoC) and other sensitive forward areas. They agreed to refrain from initiating any aggressive or hostile actions and discussed taking immediate steps to scale down the presence of troops at the borders.
“Issues related to continuing the commitment that both sides must not fire a single shot or initiate any aggressive and inimical action against each other were discussed. It was also agreed that both sides consider immediate measures to ensure troop reduction from the borders and forward areas,” Indian Army said.
The discussion comes just days after India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in retaliation for a devastating terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam last month, which claimed the lives of 26 people, including civilians and security personnel. The Indian Army targeted nine terror camps situated in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), escalating diplomatic and military tensions in the region.
