NewsMobile founder Saurabh Shukla said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump comes at a critical moment in the ongoing West Asia tensions, highlighting India’s potential role in supporting peace efforts.
Speaking to Republic World, Shukla said Modi emphasized the need for de-escalation.
“It is time to move toward de-escalation,” he said, adding that the prime minister also stressed the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and accessible.
Shukla noted that India has significant stakes in the region, including its strategic interests and the safety of its large diaspora.
“India is ready to do whatever it can to support the peace process,” he said.
Highlighting Modi’s consistent stance on global conflicts, Shukla referred to his earlier message to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“There is no place for war,” he said, underscoring India’s emphasis on diplomacy.
He said the timing of the call is notable, coming as the United States has paused planned strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure.
“There is a genuine peace effort that is going on,” Shukla said.
He added that India’s ties with multiple stakeholders, including the United States, Israel and Iran, position it uniquely in the current situation.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is one global leader who can help resolve this conflict,” he said.
Shukla also pointed to the rapport between the two leaders.
“President Trump values Prime Minister Modi as a key friend,” he said.
He said such developments reinforce India’s growing importance on the global stage.
“India today can play a pivotal role,” Shukla said, adding that efforts must continue to bring the conflict to an end.
