The Indian Army has launched a large-scale search operation in the dense Gadol forest of Kokernag in Anantnag district, South Kashmir, to locate two soldiers who went missing during the night of October 6–7.
The soldiers were conducting a routine patrol in the forested mountains of Kokernag when communication was lost. According to the Chinar Corps, the patrol encountered a severe snowstorm and whiteout conditions in the Kishtwar range, which likely contributed to the disappearance.
“The operational team faced extreme weather conditions on the intervening night of 6/7 October, and since then, two soldiers have gone out of communication. Intensive Search and Rescue operations have been launched but are hampered by prevailing adverse weather conditions,” the Chinar Corps tweeted.
