Tensions remain high along the Line of Control (LoC) as the Indian Army maintains a heightened state of alert following multiple ceasefire violations by Pakistan. This comes in the aftermath of India’s targeted military operation, codenamed Operation Sindoor, which struck nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
Defence officials confirmed on Wednesday that the Indian Army is closely monitoring the situation after Pakistan resorted to heavy artillery shelling, targeting civilian areas in Poonch and Tangdhar. The unprovoked attack has claimed the lives of 15 civilians and left at least 43 others injured, prompting strong condemnation from New Delhi.
Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi is in constant communication with field commanders and local formations along the LoC, ensuring readiness for any escalation. Defence sources said that formations deployed in forward areas have been granted operational freedom to deliver a calibrated response to any further aggression by the Pakistan Army.
The Indian armed forces carried out precision missile strikes early Wednesday on nine terror infrastructure targets deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
