Amid criticism over widespread flight disruptions earlier this month, IndiGo has rolled out a compensation package for passengers who were worst hit by the operational chaos.
The airline confirmed on Thursday that it will issue ₹10,000 travel vouchers to customers who were “severely impacted” over the past few days. These vouchers will be valid for any IndiGo flight over the next 12 months, a company spokesperson said.
This gesture comes in addition to compensation mandated under government rules. As per existing guidelines, passengers whose flights were cancelled within 24 hours of departure are entitled to ₹5,000 to ₹10,000, depending on the flight’s block time, IndiGo said.
The spokesperson emphasised that customer care remains the airline’s top priority.
“As part of this, following the operational disruption, we have ensured that all necessary refunds for cancelled flights have been initiated, most of which have already reflected in your accounts, with the remainder following shortly,” the airline said in a statement.
For bookings made via third-party platforms, IndiGo said the refund process has also been initiated. However, the carrier added that incomplete contact details for some passengers may slow communication. “As we may not have your complete details in our system, we request you to write to us at customer.experience@goindigo.in so we can continue to assist you promptly,” the spokesperson said.
IndiGo also acknowledged the extent of the disruption, noting that passengers travelling on December 3, 4 and 5, 2025 faced long hours of waiting at various airports, with many “severely impacted” due to congestion.
“At IndiGo, we are committed to restoring the experience you expect from us—safe, smooth, and reliable. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you again,” the statement concluded.
Meanwhile, IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers visited the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) earlier today for a meeting, as the airline continues efforts to resolve passenger complaints and stabilise operations following the disruptions.
