New Delhi: IndiGo has refunded over Rs 610 crore to passengers affected by its recent flight cancellations and major delays, while also reuniting nearly 3,000 pieces of baggage with owners across India, the Ministry of Civil Aviation announced on Sunday.
The ministry said the airline’s network is “rapidly returning to normalcy” after days of widespread disruptions and asserted that strict remedial measures will remain in force until full stability is achieved. IndiGo, India’s largest carrier with a dominant 65% share of the domestic market — has sharply increased its daily flights in recent days. Over 1,500 services were operated on Saturday, and around 1,650 on Sunday, reconnecting 135 out of its 138 destinations nationwide.
The airline has set December 10 as the target for complete network stabilisation. As directed by the ministry, IndiGo is working to track and return all misplaced baggage within 48 hours and is maintaining continuous communication with passengers to keep them informed of the progress.
