Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) National Remote Sensing Center in Hyderabad has released satellite images of major infrastructure works undertaken by the Uttar Pradesh government to conduct the Mahakumbh Mela 2025.

The images are of Triveni Sangam, Shivalay Park, and the Parade Grounds. According to media reports, the photos were captured by the OS-04 (RISAT-1A) ‘C’ band microwave satellite, with its all-weather capability and fine resolution.

The satellite images also captured progressive snapshots of the mela site — from its pre-event state in April 2024 through December 2024 as infrastructure developed and into January 2025 as massive crowds gathered.

Satellite imagery from January 17 showed the bathing ghats near the Sangam heavily crowded with devotees. It also shows thousands of red, white, and yellow tents across the riverbank of Sangam, along with several boats taking devotees on rides.
