Indo-Tibetan Border Police Director General S S Deswal traversed on foot around 103 Kms of high altitude Border Out Posts BOPs and border areas in Himachal Pradesh to meet the ITBP personnel deployed on high altitude areas, an official statement said.
Leading by an example in fitness and camaraderie, Deswal with other senior officers from ITBP Force Head Quarter crossed undulating terrain and few fast flowing mountain rivers.

It’s a rare feat considering he became the first DG of the force to travel such a distance on foot and stay at forward areas, ITBP said.
Low on oxygen but high on ‘Josh'(Spirit), Deswal covered the distance in two and half days.
Earlier in June, he went to Lipulekh Pass on foot and also trekked 42 Kms to meet ITBP personnel guarding Amarnath Yatra in July, 2019, the statement said.
