Jaipur: A 23-year-old woman has been arrested in Jaipur for allegedly orchestrating the murder of her mother in a chilling conspiracy driven by a dispute over family property and a government job, police said. Seven people have been arrested so far, while one accused is still on the run.
The victim, 45-year-old Neeraj Sharma, worked as a lower division clerk (LDC) in a court after receiving a compassionate appointment following her husband’s death last year. She died on July 3 after being hit by a speeding Scorpio SUV in Jaipur’s Pratap Nagar area. Investigators now believe the crash was a carefully planned murder disguised as a road accident.
Police alleged that Ayushi Sharma, along with her uncle and cousin, hired contract killers for Rs 7 lakh to execute the plan. The accused reportedly tracked Neeraj’s daily routine for several weeks before carrying out the attack, using multiple vehicles and accomplices to monitor her movements.
The investigation gained momentum after CCTV footage raised suspicions about the nature of the collision. Officers claim the attackers abandoned the SUV after the incident and escaped on a motorcycle. The murder plot was allegedly coordinated through several individuals assigned different roles, from surveillance to executing the attack.
According to police, Ayushi wanted the compassionate government job that became available after her father’s death, but the appointment had gone to her mother. Investigators also said the mother and daughter had been involved in a long-running property dispute, which allegedly became the motive behind the crime.
The case was registered on a complaint filed by Neeraj’s brother, who told police that she had repeatedly complained of threats and harassment from family members over property issues. The investigation is continuing, with police searching for the remaining absconding accused.
