External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday strongly condemned the terror attack at Sydney’s Bondi Beach, saying India and Israel follow a clear policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism. Speaking in Jerusalem alongside Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, Jaishankar expressed India’s deep condolences over the loss of lives in the attack, which took place during Hanukkah celebrations in Australia.
At the start of his remarks, the minister said India denounces the attack in the strongest terms and values Israel’s consistent support in India’s fight against terrorism in all its forms. He underlined that terrorism remains a shared concern for both nations and requires firm and united opposition.

Jaishankar said his visit to Israel provided an opportunity to further shape the future direction of bilateral ties. Describing India and Israel as complementary partners, he noted that their strategic partnership has expanded significantly over the last decade. He highlighted cooperation across government-to-government, business-to-business and people-to-people levels, covering a wide range of sectors.
The external affairs minister said discussions with his Israeli counterpart would focus on building upon an already finalised work plan to prepare the partnership for emerging global challenges. He also expressed India’s support for the Gaza peace plan, voicing hope that it would lead to a lasting and durable solution.
Earlier, Jaishankar arrived in Israel and was received by Israel’s Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, who welcomed him publicly.
