Jharkhand Cancels JSSC-CGL Exams Amid Irregularity Allegations

Date:

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday announced the cancellation of the JSSC-CGL examinations amid allegations of irregularities in the state’s recruitment process.

Soren said the state Cabinet had decided to cancel everything associated with TSR Data Processing Private Limited (TDPL), including examinations conducted by the company, published results and candidate selections.

He also announced a comprehensive inquiry into examination-related irregularities dating back to 2014.

The Chief Minister said investigations by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had uncovered several “shocking facts”. He said the ongoing probe had revealed an interconnected network involving various companies that had operated in the state at different times.

“Since the investigation is ongoing, it is not possible to disclose every detail openly,” Soren said, adding that the probe would cover examinations conducted from 2014 to the present.

Soren assured students that the government would pursue examination reforms with complete transparency. He said an existing standard operating procedure (SOP) for conducting examinations would be strengthened and further improvements would be made based on suggestions from students, teachers and parents.

The government has also opened a portal to collect suggestions, which will subsequently be shared with experts, he said.

The cancellation of the JSSC-CGL examination has been one of the key demands of students protesting in Ranchi over alleged irregularities in examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC).

The protest entered its 24th day on Monday, with students demanding reforms in the examination system and action against those allegedly responsible for irregularities.
