Khalistani Terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun Threatens To Attack On Indian Parliament; Delhi Police On High Alert

Date:

New Delhi: In a recent video release, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, associated with Khalistani activities, issued a threat to attack the Indian Parliament on December 13. Pannun claimed the Indian government’s alleged attempts to eliminate him failed, vowing a response that would “shake the very foundations of Indian Parliament.”

Referring to the 2001 Parliament attack, he stated, “My response on December 13 will be in contrast to Afzal Guru’s 2001 resistance against extra-judicial killings of Kashmiris, but still, my response is going to shake the very foundations of Indian Parliament.”

Following the release of Pannun’s video, security agencies are on high alert. Sources reveal that the K-2 (Kashmir-Khalistan) desk of Pakistan’s ISI has instructed Pannun to advance their agenda of promoting an anti-India narrative.

The Delhi Police was also on high alert after the video went viral on social media. They have heightened security measures, particularly in and around Parliament. A senior police officer emphasised their commitment to maintaining law and order, stating, “No one will be allowed to disturb law and order.” Security has been bolstered across the entirety of Delhi.

“During Parliament sessions, we remain vigilant. We are taking all precautionary measures to prevent any untoward incident,” the officer affirmed. The proactive approach aims to ensure the safety and security of the area amid heightened tensions.

The video surfaced after US authorities accused Indian national Nikhil Gupta, codenamed ‘CC-1,’ of a foiled murder attempt against Pannun on American soil. Gupta, a “senior field officer” with ties to the Indian government, allegedly worked on the plot. Pannun responded, stating he would let the US government address the issue of threats on American soil from Indian operatives.

MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi acknowledged the US inputs on the nexus between criminals, gun runners, and terrorists during bilateral security discussions. Bagchi mentioned establishing a high-level inquiry committee to investigate the matter, with necessary follow-up actions to be taken based on the committee’s findings.

Regarding the allegations, the MEA announced the formation of a high-level committee to examine the situation, a move appreciated by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Blinken commended India’s commitment to investigate the allegations.
