New Delhi: Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Wednesday accused the Congress, Communist Party of India (CPI) and Samajwadi Party (SP) of maintaining an “anti-Lord Ram” stance, alleging that they had consistently opposed both the existence of Lord Ram and the construction of the Ram Mandir.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha amid continued disruptions by the Opposition, Rijiju criticised the parties over their protests on the alleged theft of donations at the Ayodhya Ram Mandir.
“Congress, CPI, and SP are anti-Lord Ram. They have always taken an anti-Lord Ram stand. They always opposed the existence of Lord Ram,” Rijiju said.
Alleging that the Opposition had protested against the construction of the Ram Mandir, he added, “When the Ram Mandir was being built, they wore black bands to protest it. But the drama they have enacted here inside the Parliament complex has left us deeply saddened.”
The Union Minister demanded that the Opposition parties apologise to the country and for what he alleged was an insult to Lord Ram.
“I want Congress, SP, and CPI to apologise to the country and also tender an apology for the insult to Lord Ram,” he said.
His remarks came as Parliament continued to witness repeated disruptions, with Opposition MPs protesting over the alleged police action against CJP protesters on July 20, the alleged embezzlement of Ram Mandir donations and other issues.
Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other Opposition leaders marched from Prerna Sthal to Makar Dwar in the Parliament complex as part of the protest.
