Maharashtra Assembly Polls: Congress Releases First List Of 48 Candidates

The Congress party on Thursday unveiled the names of 48 candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections, scheduled for November 20. This first list includes several high-profile leaders who will be contesting key constituencies across the state.

Among the prominent names, state Congress chief Nana Patole will contest from Sakoli, while Legislature Party leader Balasaheb Thorat is running from Sangamner. Leader of the Opposition Vijay Wadettiwar will be contesting from Bramhapuri, and former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan is set to compete for the Karad South seat.

Additionally, Congress Working Committee (CWC) member and Regional Working President Naseem Khan will be running from Chandivali.

Maharashtra voters are gearing up for a high-stakes election that will see a direct contest between two major alliances. The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), led by Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar), and Congress, will face off against the Maha Yuti Alliance, which brings together the BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde), and NCP (Ajit Pawar). The elections will take place in a single phase on November 20, with results expected on November 23.
