Delhi Police have arrested hotel owner Lavkesh Bajaj in connection with the Malviya Nagar fire tragedy that claimed 21 lives and left several others injured.
Before the arrest, investigators had issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Bajaj and his wife as part of efforts to identify those responsible for operating the guest house where the fire occurred. The LOC was aimed at preventing the accused from leaving the country while the investigation continued.
The deadly incident took place on Wednesday morning in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area. According to police, the fire resulted in the deaths of at least 21 people, including several foreign nationals, mainly from Central Asia and Africa.
Initial reports suggested that the blaze had broken out at Lemon Green Restaurant at around 8:45 am. However, Delhi Police later clarified that the fire actually occurred at Flourish Stay B&B in Hauz Rani, a congested locality within the Malviya Nagar area.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire as questions remain over the operation and safety measures at the establishment. The tragedy is one of the deadliest fire incidents reported in the national capital in recent times.
