Man absconding after trying to rape minor girl

Muzaffarnagar, Sep 11 (PTI) A 23-year-old man allegedlytried to rape a minor girl in Jaroda village here, leading tomild tension in the area, police said today. A case has been registered against the accused MangtaSingh who is absconding, Circle officer Hariram Yadav said. According to the complaint by the victim’s family, theyouth attempted to rape the 8-year-old girl, who belonged tothe same community as him, in a sugarcane field in thevillage. Upon hearing her cries, villagers nearby rushed to herrescue. The accused however escaped after threatening thegirl. The 8-year-old has been sent for medical examination.Security, meanwhile, has been tightened with extra policeforce deployed in the village to ease tensions. In another case in the district, police have arrested a24-year-old man who had been absconding for nearly two yearsafter commiting a rape at Kasampur village here. The accused, identified as Monu, was arrested lastevening in Miranpur Police station area. Police said he had been absconding for over two yearsafter the incident. PTI CORR BSA DVBSA
