Indian ODI captain Rohit Sharma, currently on a break from cricket, was recently spotted driving his new Lamborghini through heavy traffic in Mumbai. The 37-year-old opener has been away from the field since the end of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025), after announcing his retirement from Tests and T20 internationals.
A short video from the outing showed Rohit acknowledging a fan with a thumbs-up from inside his car. The clip has since gone viral on social media.

According to reports, Rohit chose the number plate ‘3015’ for his luxury car, combining the birth dates of his children. His daughter Samaira was born on 30 December 2018, while his son Ahaan was born on 15 November 2024.
Rohit is expected to return in October for the ODI series against Australia. In recent weeks, there has been speculation about the possible retirements of both Rohit and Virat Kohli. However, BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla dismissed the rumours.
“When did they retire? Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli both will still play ODIs, so if they are still playing, then why talk about farewell now? Why are you people worrying already? Our policy is very clear – BCCI never tells any player to retire. He has to take his own decision. He himself has to take this call,” Shukla said in an interview with the UP T20 League YouTube channel.

The pair last featured in the Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai. Kohli scored a century against Pakistan in the group stage and an unbeaten 84 in the semi-final against Australia. Rohit struck 76 off 83 balls against New Zealand, guiding India to a successful chase.
With the ODI World Cup 2027 two years away, both senior players will aim to maintain form as younger cricketers continue to push for spots in the national squad.
