Union Health Minister and BJP President J.P. Nadda on Tuesday began a visit to the flood-affected Northeastern states to review ongoing relief operations and assess the availability of healthcare services in regions impacted by heavy monsoon rains.
The visit aims to evaluate the ground situation, monitor medical preparedness, and ensure uninterrupted relief assistance for affected residents.
During the visit, Nadda is expected to inspect relief camps, interact with flood-affected families, review the functioning of health facilities, and hold meetings with state officials to assess emergency response measures.
Discussions will focus on the availability of medicines, medical teams, disease surveillance, sanitation, drinking water, and measures to prevent outbreaks of water-borne and vector-borne diseases in flood-hit areas.
The Union Minister will also review rehabilitation efforts and the coordination between the Centre and state governments to ensure timely delivery of relief and restoration of essential services.
His visit comes as several Northeastern states continue to grapple with flooding and landslides caused by persistent monsoon rains, which have disrupted normal life, damaged infrastructure, and displaced thousands of people.
The Centre has reiterated its commitment to extending all necessary assistance for relief, healthcare support, and long-term rehabilitation in the affected regions.
