In an election-bound Bihar, PM Modi visited the state for the fifth time this year on Friday. With assembly polls expected in October or November, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the NDA are preparing for a return to power. The Prime Minister’s visit to Motihari, where he laid the foundation stone, inaugurated development projects catering to the Rail, Road, Rural Development, Fisheries, Electronics and Information Technology sectors. The PM addressed a public meeting and is seen as a significant part of that effort.
Speaking at Gandhi Maidan in East Champaran district, PM Modi introduced a new slogan, “Banayenge naya Bihar, phir ek baar NDA Sarkar” (Let’s build a new Bihar, once again an NDA government). He spoke about several schemes led by the Centre and the State, claiming they have been focused on improving conditions for the poor and underprivileged.
During his address, PM Modi announced the start of development works worth more than ₹7,200 crore. He also flagged off four new Amrit Bharat Express trains aimed at boosting regional connectivity.
PM Modi praised the work done in the state under the current alliance, stating that both his government and Nitish Kumar’s administration had collaborated to bring about change. He said the focus remains on better roads, railways, and welfare support. “We must now take a pledge to build a new Bihar and continue with the NDA,” he said.
He also mentioned a new initiative to identify 100 underdeveloped districts across the country, many of which, he noted, are likely to be in Bihar. The aim of the scheme, he said, would be to support farmers and bring focused benefits to these areas.
Referring to the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, PM Modi stated that ₹3.6 lakh crore had been directly transferred to farmers’ accounts, with lakhs of them in Bihar. “This is proof that our policies are reaching those they are meant for,” he added.
The Prime Minister also brought up “Operation Sindoor,” a military operation aimed at terror groups across the border, saying that the plan had first been declared from Bihar and is now being watched by the entire world.
Taking aim at the opposition, PM Modi criticised the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), without naming its leaders directly. He said the party could not be trusted on jobs or development, hinting at the ongoing allegations around the land-for-job case linked to RJD’s leadership. “Those who took your land in return for false promises of work cannot be the ones to build your future,” he said.
PM Modi ended his speech with another line in support of the NDA, saying, “Bihar ka naya sankalp, NDA ke saath har pal” (Bihar’s new pledge, every moment with the NDA).
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha, Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Union Ministers Rajeev Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, Chirag Paswan and other senior leaders too were present on the occasion.
