NEET-UG Paper Leak Case: CBI Arrests Two More Accused In Bihar

Date:

Patna: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested two more individuals allegedly involved in the NEET-UG paper leak case in Patna on Tuesday. The suspects, identified as Pankaj Kumar Singh and Raju Singh, were apprehended in Patna and Hazaribagh.

According to a senior CBI official, Pankaj, a civil engineer who graduated from NIT Jamshedpur, managed to steal the question paper while it was being transported in a sealed iron trunk from Hazaribagh.

On July 12, the Patna High Court granted CBI custody to 13 individuals who were previously arrested by the Patna Police in connection with the NEET-UG paper leak case. These arrests mark a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the alleged leak of the NEET-UG examination papers.

The NEET-UG exam, conducted on May 5, 2024, has been embroiled in controversy due to allegations of cheating and impersonation. This year’s exam took place across 4,750 centres, with approximately 24 lakh candidates participating in the nationwide test.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducted the exam, has faced severe criticism, leading to protests and legal actions. The Union Health Ministry has postponed the NEET-PG 2024 examination, with new dates to be announced soon.

The government has replaced the chief of the NTA and formed a committee to review and improve its functioning.
